Jeff is from Atlanta, Georgia. He received a Bachelor of Arts with high honors in Economics (1972) and a Juris Doctorate with honors (1975) from the University of Florida. He has been engaged in the private practice of law in Atlanta since 1976. He was associated with the law offices of Edwin Marger from 1976 until 1978. He was a partner in the law firm of Benham & Cohen, P.C. from 1978 to 1987. Since 1988, he has been a partner in his present firm, Cohen Goldstein Port & Gottlieb, LLP or its predecessor firm. His practice is primarily focused in the areas of corporations and businesses.

Jeff is a member of the Atlanta Bar Association, State Bar of Georgia and the State Bar of Florida. He serves on the Board of Directors of the Atlanta Jewish Community Center and the US10K Classic, Inc., both of which are non-profit Georgia corporations. He has served as a civil arbitrator for the Fulton County Superior Court since 1986 and is a member of the American Arbitration Association and the American Judicature Society.
